My old man believed in hard physical punishment as a means of keeping young men on the straight and narrow - I can still hear him say "Lad, if you ain't naked and this isn't hard then it isn't punishment". He could certainly lay it on!! Young men should get this kind of punishment regularly - mostly, they are "hard wired" for it - I know that I was.
